“What’s Next? The MIM National Human Resources Forum, 2010”
The Malta Institute of Management was founded in 1964 by a group of visionary businessmen who in the light of Malta gaining its independence from the British Empire wanted to promote and instill amongst the Maltese a professional attitude to management and leadership. And indeed today we believe this goal is still valid as no political rhetoric or commercial enterprise will realise itself successfully if Malta does not produce enough professional managers and leaders to spearhead our economy and society, competitively and sustainably.
This precept is particularly relevant in the field of HR. In fact, this is a unique time for HR as we lead in unprecedented times. Business and organizational change is being driven by slower growth economies and changing talent needs. In addition to economic pressures, we are dealing with all time high unemployment, unknowns in the government’s role in business, and enormous budget issues in both private and public sectors. The prevalent question posed is; “What’s NEXT in HR Strategy?” In this light the MIM as part of its conferences and events programme will on the 10th June be spearheading, “What’s Next? The MIM Human Resources Forum, 2010” at the InterContinental (ST GEORGE’S BAY • MALTA, STJ 02 • MALTA) where experts from different professional fields will come together to discuss the prevalent issues in the field.
The forum will kick start with an HR analysis from a domestic perspective that will be addressed by Mr. Joe F.X. Zahra and will be followed by three panel discussions of which one will address “Maximising Women’s Workforce Participation”, another will address “Organising For Learning” and the final panel shall address “Organising For Motivation”. The conference shall also include a corporate story telling where a leading international company shall share its experience with participants on its policy towards HR in the light of all exterior challenges. Special guests are Professor Meredith Belbin (http://www.belbin.com/), the father of team roles and team role theory, and Professor John Adair (http://www.johnadair.co.uk/), one of the world’s leading authorities on leadership and leadership development.
