New President and Council for the Malta Institute of Management
Mr. Reuben Buttigieg has been elected President of the Malta Institute of Management. Mr. Buttigieg has formed part of the MIM Council since 2003 and has led the Institute’s Education Division for the last five years. Mr. Buttigieg has read for a Masters in Business Administration with the University of Warwick and is a Fellow Member of the Association of the Chartered Certified Accountants. He is also Managing Director of Erremme Business Advisors.
The other officers of the new MIM Council are: Dr. Edward Firman, Vice President; Mr. Dunstan Magro, Honorary Secretary; Dr. Alfred Mifsud, Honorary Treasurer; and Ms. Marika Huber, Mr. Lawrence Mizzi, Mr. Melvin Caruana and Mr. Hector Spiteri as members.
Mr. Melvin Caruana will be succeeding Mr. Buttigieg as Chairperson of the Education Division of MIM. Mr. Caruana is Executive Chairman of Smart Insurance Brokers Limited. Ms. Marika Huber and Mr. Lawrence Mizzi have been appointing Directors of the Education Division.
The new MIM Council is committed to strive towards strengthening the involvement and participation of members in the Institute’s activities.
Mr. Buttigieg views the current times as very challenging for the Malta Institute of Management, as professionals are facing new difficulties but also new opportunities. His basic desire is to see the MIM Council building on what previous Councils have succeeded in creating and developing along the years, moving ahead with an open mind in up-dating the Institute’s response to the exigencies of an always changing reality. Another desire is to see the MIM collaborating even further with various organisations to ensure a better co-ordination of activities in the Maltese Islands in the development of Human Capital for a sustainable economic growth. The new MIM Council also intends to commit itself to strengthening the involvement and participation of members in the Institute’s activities.
Founded in 1964, the Malta Institute of Management is a non-political, non-negotiating and non-profit making professional body for persons in Malta concerned with and involved in management. The Institute runs various courses, educational programmes and conferences.
