Air Malta: An appeal for equitable solutions
The Malta Institute of Management (MIM) feels deeply concerned about the big risks that appear to be facing Air Malta due to the current situation.
It is clear that the future of the national airline may be at stake. Indeed, current experiences may possibly lead to potentially enormous negative consequences which could also have serious ripple effects on the well-being of the nation’s economy.
The MIM therefore appeals to all concerned to leave no stone unturned, through flexible attitudes and constructive dialogue, to hopefully find in good time the urgently needed equitable solutions and a just way forward in the best interest of all, always respecting the human dignity of all those involved, whilst preserving the economic viability of the company throughout this process.
Without entering into the merits of the current industrial misgivings, from the management point of view the MIM would like to state its conviction that Air Malta has a significant amount of rich Human Capital that the country needs. Any measures, therefore, should aim at ensuring that such Human Capital is invested upon also to the benefit of the Maltese economy.
Air Malta itself has over the years invested substantially in the professional development of management and staff that have gained and developed skills that Malta should continue to effectively benefit from.
