The MIM: VAT and the EU Conference 2011
Keeping in mind the specific requirements of professionals working in the Finance and Accounting Industry, MIM will once again organise the VAT and EU conference on the 20th October. As in the previous years MIM has invited an international line-up of speakers for this year’s conference who will address issues related to collection and exchange of information in VAT matters, technology systems and legal up-dates with specific reference to case studies.
International trade is a key factor in the development of World economies. It allows us to expand our markets for both goods and services that otherwise may not have been available to us. Countries constantly seek to create new mechanisms that ease International trade. A case in point is the establishment of free zone areas which facilitate trading procedures by allowing fewer customs formalities. Free zones are special areas within the customs territory of the Community. Goods placed within these areas are free of import duties, VAT and other import charges.
In the light of the recent adoption of a new law allowing the establishment of Tax-Free Zones in Luxembourg, the Malta Institute of Management invited Mr. Erwan Loquet, Tax Partner at BDO Luxembourg to intervene during the forthcoming VAT & the EU Conference to provide an insight on the new legislation, and the advantages it will offer.
