The MIM Forum “MOTHERS IN MANAGEMENT” was a great success, held by the Malta Institute of Management at the Westin Dragonara Resort, in which a very precise cross section of the mothers’ world came out.

It was a very successfully day, starting with the video conference by Ms Julie de Bergeyck, MMM International’s European Delegation, who showed statistics of mothers in the workforce. Immediately after came the first “panel discussion”, in which the speakers were Ms Helen D’Amato (Commissioner for Children), Hon Dr Marie Louise (Coleiro MP), Dr Lydia Abela (Malta Labour Party) and Dr Marthese Portelli (President of PN Executvie Commitee).

The presentation by psycotherapist Ms Angele Licari on “Our Children - Our Teachers” was well received by the audience due to its reality, carefulness and honesty on the topic discussed. Same applied to the interview with Dr Charlotte Camilleri from the Malta Employers Association on the “Working Mothers, rights and obligations“.

The others two panels were very actively debated by the participants, who shared their experience. The first discussion tackled the topic of “Working Mothers - Not enought time?“, with the participation of Ms Joan Haber (Alka Ceramics), Ms Marie Louise Pace (PAL Malta), Ms Helga Ellul (Playmobil Malta), Ms Pauline Azzopardi ( HSBC Bank) and Ms Ruth Farrugia (Fino & Sons Ltd). The panel disussion, “Career Mothers - Breaking down the Maternal Wall“, with Ms Sandra Zammit (Smoochie Drinks), Ms Marisa Marmara (Majjistral Group), Ms Antoinette Caruana (Farsons), Ms Carmen Ciantar (Yellow Pages), Ms Claire Mifsud (Vodafone) and Ms Moira Farrugia (Bank of Valletta).

Ms Sandra Pollock, Chair of Women in Management CMI, concluded the conference with her speech on “Looking Forward - Example, Experience and Legacy” and affirming that mothers should view the event as a starting point to motherhood and carreers.
